We are dedicated to supporting each child’s musical journey from their very first lesson. Our focus is on establishing a strong foundation in music and violin technique.
Sam’s teaching philosophy centers on helping every student develop a profound understanding of music while enabling them to express their emotions through their playing.
Our lessons are engaging and dynamic, incorporating games, challenges, and diverse activities that make learning to read music and play with proper technique both fun and effective.
In our studio, students explore the following key aspects of violin playing:
- Sight Reading: Students will start learning to read music right from the beginning, fostering independent learning and faster overall progress.
- Efficient practice: We teach students how to practice effectively, maximising their progress and enjoyment.
- Posture & technique: Proper posture and technique are emphasised in every lesson to ensure healthy playing habits and optimal sound production.
- Musical expression: Students learn to infuse emotion and feeling into their performances, making their music truly their own.
We encourage our students to participate in local music competitions, AMEB exams, and our biannual student concerts. We thoroughly prepare each student to maximise the benefits of these opportunities.

Working together as a team
Guiding children in their musical journey is rewarding for everyone. The teacher, parent and child all work together as a team.
In Sam’s studio, parents have an active role in their children’s musical development. A parent attends the weekly lesson and guides their children as they practise at home.
Parents do not need prior experience with music. By participating in lessons and making use of the provided learning resources, parents can confidently help and encourage their children at home.
